New Board of Directors
Trace the Lace/ Tracer les substances Melange, a new charity, is excited to announce that we are establishing our Board of Directors.
Founded in February 2024, Trace the Lace is advocating for legislative changes to laced drug overdoses that will support law enforcement and the criminal justice system in safeguarding our loved ones from unnecessary, tragic deaths. Our mission is clear: to hold those accountable for poisoning our loved ones and bring justice for their deaths.

Are you looking to provide your leadership and expertise to a new, growing national charitable organization based in Ottawa? Trace the Lace is now seeking qualified individuals who are passionate about saving lives and honouring our lost loved ones to laced drug overdoses.
We are committed to the education of the toxic drug supply with one message: One pill, one time, can cause brain injury or death. Our goal is to propose a new law that will hold drug traffickers accountable for laced drug overdose deaths. It is essential to stand up and protect our next generation. Trace the Lace is advocating for immediate government-funded addiction resources (with the focus on social determinants of health) that will provide hope and an immediate way out of addiction.
Our new charitable activities include the following:
Peer support group for parents, family members, and friends who have lost loved ones to overdose.
Education on the toxic drug supply targeted to children, young adults, and communities.
Grants towards funeral costs for parents with low income.
Grants towards equipment for parents bringing home youth with brain injury following an overdose.
Research to identify addiction resource gaps, youth and drug use, and brain injury following overdose.
We are looking for professionals to serve as board members with experience in the following areas:
Social Media/Media/Journalism
Accounting
Criminal Law/Legal
Law Enforcement
Politics/government
Experience with Grants
Health Care professionals
Research
Key responsibilities:
Prepare for and participate in board and committee meetings
Fulfill governance and stewardship to ensure the long-term success of the organization
Promote the organization and its mission in the community at large, and open doors where possible
Engage with key stakeholders, including funders, partners, donors and supporters
Participate in fundraising efforts
Help the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, including approval and oversight of the annual budget
Assist in the development, review and update of board policies and governance structures
Participate in strategic planning sessions
Monitor the financial performance of Trace the Lace and participate in the approval of the annual budget
Evaluate the performance of the CEO and the Executive Director
Applicants should have a background of involvement in NGO/charitable organizations as a board member, volunteer, or in another capacity.
Ideal Candidates possess the following:
Excellent communication skills
Ability to think strategically
Problem-solving/consensus-building abilities
Demonstrated leadership stature in philanthropy, community service, business, government, or the non-profit sector
Summary
2-year renewable terms
Experience in board governance, advocacy/lobbying, fundraising or healthcare is of particular interest
Promote the organization and its mission in the community and open doors where possible
